Destination Weddings
Congratulations you are getting married! Have you thought about where you will hold the wedding? Some women have had a dream since they were young on where they would get married and what they would wear. The only thing missing was the groom. Other people have never really thought about where they are going to get married.
If you fall into the second group then I think you should look at destination weddings as an option. You can get married and have the honeymoon in the same place. Destination wedding locations cover just about every option, you can get married on a beach in Mexico or on the slopes of a ski resort. The most common destination wedding packages are aimed at people who want to get married in the sun.
Planning A Destination Wedding
The first thing your destination wedding planning needs to take into account is whether you are eloping and getting married on your own or is it going to be a family event. The costs involved in travelling abroad for a wedding can be substantial so think about whether your family will be able to afford it or not. All inclusive destination weddings can save you some money as there are no surprise costs for food and drink.
Location
Since this is a destination wedding you need to choose a destination that really excites you. There is no point going to somewhere that you know you won’t enjoy, this is going to be the happiest time of your life. Remember that if your weddding is going to be in Europe they will have as good or better infrastruture than in the USA but if you are going to a island in the carribean they won’t have the same things you have got at home.
Don’t expect to jump off the plane, into a taxi and be ready to get married the same day, you must allow enough time to make sure that everything is prepared and ready. Destination weddings have the same issues as weddings at home do, so be ready to deal with any issues that may pop up and try not to get too frazzled.
Timing
Destination weddings are the perfect way to combine your wedding day with your honeymoon. Just make sure that you get married at the right time of year. Spending two weeks in a hotel during the rainy season or when hurricanes are threatening to wreck the island you are on is not much fun. You need to find a happy balance between the time when you go and the price you are paying. You may also need to talk to your family incase there are any times of the year when they are unable to attend.
Reduce The Stress
One thing that I can guarantee is that planning destination weddings is no less stressful than organizing a wedding at home. Do what you can to reduce the stress levels, ask for help when you need it and do not be too proud to admit you can not cope. Most of the destination hotels will have someone on staff who helps organize weddings for people on vacation. Take advantage of their expertise and local contacts. You are thousands of miles from home so use all the resources that the hotel offers, it will make your life a lot easier and you will soon be talking about just how great destination weddings are.
